My first published attempts at self portraits. I beg your pardon! (Disclaimer: There was very little photoshopping involved.)

                                                       How I see myself…

And how I think the world sees me...

Assignment #1! :)

Kyle Thompson

I chose Kyle Thompson because his self portrait style is very eclectic. Kyle and I share a lot of the same personality traits (for example, being deathly shy and introverted enough to try to find a way NOT to interact with people…Hahaha) I love how Kyle finds a way to really show his emotions through his photographs. I feel like in our modern world, showing emotion is becoming harder and harder.

Andy Warhol

I chose Andy because his self portraits are crazy. He totally does what he wants with his photographs. He holds all of his creative rights, and keeps all  of his creative rights. You don't see people that often. Plus, I love the color schemes he gravitates towards.

Frida Kahlo

I chose Frida Kahlo because she is is pretty much the face of self portraits. Her face is a literal classic. I admire the confidence she has even despite her famous unibrow. Frida is truly a pioneer of many different kinds of art, in and of itself.

And last, but not least, why do I think the selfie is so prevalent in today's society? I believe that the selfie is so prevalent in today's because humans are vain. I do not feel like there is much other way to put it. We humans like to see pictures of ourselves. And thanks to social media, now we humans like to get outsider feedback on pictures of ourselves. It makes us feel good.
